I decided to take a couple of days off from the computer so the Blog didn't get updated. Sorry to all those Joshua blog fans out there that have been missing their fix!We arrived back from Nationals late Sunday night after a REALLY long and exhausting 5 days. Don't get me wrong - it was definitely worth it - but not without difficulties. The trial was lots of fun though the long days were pretty crazy - we had to be at the site around 6:15am every morning and didn't finish up before 4pm (and on one crazy day we didn't get back until 8pm!!!!). Shadow did awesome in a very high stress environment. Our highlight of the weekend - a 7th place finish (with a nice burgundy ribbon!) out of 69 dogs in our jump height in the first standard run on Friday. Another high - receiving a qualifying ribbon in the steeplechase on Thursday and being invited to be int he second round on Saturday since we were in the top 50%!
Lows included really long nights with lots of screaming wake ups from Joshua - we have now realized how much he sleeps better in his own room in his own crib. And let there be no question - Joshua is now DEFINITELY teething - proven by the white bottom gums in the little guy's mouth. Mark had more than one occasion where he had to just pack up Joshua in the car and rive around until he went back to sleep. Days were generally good but not without fuss-outs.All in all though - we all learned a lot and all had some really good times. BUT - we felt TERRIBLE for the lack of sleep April had because of Joshua's teeth and interrupted sleep as she was sharing a room with us the whole time.
We took over 200 shots so we will certainly have a lot of ones to use over the next while. This one is probably one of my favorites though... Mark and Joshua had such a great bond - I burst with pride when I see moments like this one.

I will try to be more diligent in updating the blog for the rest of the week. We have a "date night" planned for tonight when my mom is going to take care of Joshua while Mark and I have some time to ourselves for a couple hours.
Take care everyone!

AH, the highs and lows! Mitchell is actually doing better here for sleep than he does at home; so maybe the sound of the ocean will help Joshua when you guys are here too. Plus Mitch is in the playpen in our room, that may be helping too...
Glad Nationals went well, even if the time wore everyone out!
Beautiful photo of a magical connection!
Congrats on all your successes and, also, on surviving the "downside" aspects of the week away!
After any time away from the familiar, the movie quote rings true, "There's no place like home!"
