In a perfect world..this would have been taken on Father's Day, but parenthood is the *real* world..and it's not always perfect :) (was actually taken a couple days before when, once again..I was fixating on his wicked cool feet!)Father's Day was really bad and really good at the same time.
Bad because Joshua was not at all the happy go lucky, smiling to anyone you'd give him the slightest glance, usual jovial self, especially with Momma and Dadda. He made a good effort being social at Grandma and Grampa's and everyone enjoyed seeing him but we snuck him to the shadows and behind closed doors for the fussiness and crying between brief visits and wailings. He was too much of a happy camper for the better part of the day on Father's Day.
But the good is..to realize...this is parenthood. Not always going to be an oil painting. It kinda peaked during the drive home (where he reserved his best into my face screamings and flails) during which I spent my time in the back seat trying to console a wailing and sweaty hot LBM who was not going to be soothed. And after getting home and quickly popping in bottle to feel some semblance of redemption (not without a struggle mind you) and wallowing a bit that he was able to be SO social with so many non-family members Friday night but got fussy almost anytime he was held by anyone Sunday it jammed home...he's only human!
Our little guy had done so well for the week with meeting so many new people and so may fun stimulus...he was just tapped out Sunday...running on fumes. Eventually, at home, we got him settled back into his comfort zone. Got the fans blowing on the highest speed and got our boy smiling again. Such an awesome smile.
It's not all roses folks, but when it is..it smells pretty damn sweet!
So in taking advantage of "the day after" privileges that may not exist (as I'm stealing this pic from what would have definitely been a Josee Blog update) I give you, in my opinion, the sweetest pic we've taken of our wonderful boy thus far...
This is one Father that loves his family very very much...emotional roller coaster of a son on his Father's "special day" *especially*.Since that's when, I've realized, he needs my love most.
More updates to come!

What a beautiful photo of our sweet Joshua!
We are very proud of his parents, too and are incredibly impressed by their joy, resiliency and patience as they navigate unexpected storms to and find safe harbours...this voyage into parenthood is not for the timid!
We look forward to many future opportunities to bond with your sweet boy.
Love you.
