Cottage cheese..the perfect finger food?!?

It's been a bit of an odd start to our "weekend" (the Sunday thru Tuesday that I'm off). Things started out quite well with me getting my first swimming lesson with Joshua at Dovercourt that went very well. Lots of fun and neat for me that the instructor seems to know him (and only him) by name in our class.
Joshua had a decent 1 hour nap afterwards and then we went out to do some more running around and possibly pushed his afternoon nap a bit and as a consequence.. the window passed. He just wasn't interested in going down for a nap AT ALL, but oddly, wasn't crabby about it. Normally his afternoon naps are fairly automatic and he normally has about 2.5-3 hours of naps a day so it was worrisome, especially in light of recent overnight struggles. Later Josee managed to get him down for a 1/2 hour but not until just before 5pm when we're normally setting up for his dinner. All that to say.. we decided to take advantage of the late nap and sat down for our first *legit* family meal.
Besides his usually fare of pears, cottage cheese and the like Joshua got some cooked green beans, sole (with breading removed) and chicken & wild rice. He dug it a lot. He was enjoying himself so much I decided it was time for some messy fun and lo and behold, Joshua then decided cottage cheese was a great finger food challenge. And so I present the cottage cheese series!
Lots of mess, lots of fun and lots of extra eating actually! Who knew mixing pureed pears with cottage cheese and dumping them on the high chair tray would prove so exciting AND nutritious!
Joshua continues to amaze us with his abilities. His pincher ability for self feeding is coming along *really* well (as demonstrated by his cottage cheese feeding) and his cruising and extreme desire to stand whenever at all possible and then try and twist around and take his hands off whatever is supporting him is exciting...and frightening! ;)
He's a maniac, he's going to exhaust us and we're gonna love him for it!
More messy mealtime pics will be in the near future!

Love it!
Watch out...that last photo ...the
gleam in the eye and big grin indicates that Joshua is about one blink away from a "food fight" scenario!!!

diced avacado so great too, and has that extra "turn the fingers black if you don't clean them after": fun factor!
