Good News, Bad News

Well, the good news is that Joshua isn't going through some crazy nighttime separation anxiety that we have to just wait out.
The bad news is he has another ear infection - and this time, it is in both of his ears!

After a terribly difficult night on everyone on Wednesday night where Mark and I probably had a total of 4 hours of sleep combined, we went to CHEO in the morning to see if we could get some answers. After waiting for 3 hours, and without being able to get any estimation of how much longer we would have to wait, we had neither the energy nor the willpower to stay and wait any longer. We left feeling even more tiered and frustrated. After getting home and having a short nap, we got back in the car to try the Orleans Urgent Care Clinic. After finding out it would be at least another 2 hour wait there, we decided to go home and try again first thing in the morning. Out of shear exhaustion, Joshua managed to sleep better that night but still had a lot of troubles and needed to be held until he was in a deep sleep before being put down. The next morning, Joshua and I headed to the clinic while Mark stayed home to get the laneway (amongst other things) cleared before today's storm. After another 1.5 hours of waiting, we finally got the confirmation we were waiting for. I have never been so thrilled to hear the words "you are exactly right" uttered out of a doctor's mouth.

So, our dear boy is back on antibiotics (an different one this time) and we should see some changes in the next day or so. Poor kid, it is like he can't get a break from being sick! And, this is only one more reason I would love for the Spring to finally arrive!

We are playing it safe today and sticking at home to wait out the expected storm. Let's hope this is the last one of the year. I can't help but be thankful we did not have this kind of weather last year at this time, when I was still going to work and 9 months pregnant.

Don't forget to "spring forward" your clocks tonight,
J

Joshua's Dad put us through a similar experience at two years old, with him springing back to life once at the doctor's office, (after a miserable restless week!) and being diagnosed, by an amazed doctor, with "walking pneumonia"!
Well done, parents!
Always go with your instincts when it comes to your child. No one knows them better.
Sleep well tonight.
