Birthday Party Time

Joshua's first birthday party is officially over and was a resounding success. We were one of three parties going on at the same time (one of which was built up of 10 screaming 8 year old girls) and the excitement, noise and confined chaos made Joshua a bit overwhelmed with the whole situation. He still had lots of fun though but was especially clingy and not half as responsive to his favorite Starr instructor Pink. He seemed to get more comfortable once we moved the party into the party room where he was only surrounded by people he knew plus lots of cool new toys to play with.

I had baked a chocolate Elmo cake along with some white cupcakes - both iced with lots of red icing (because what one year old wouldn't love to play with red, orange and black icing?) for everyone to enjoy. As you will see by the pictures, Joshua was thrilled with the opportunity to play in colour. Needless to say, he had a good bathing that night! Joshua is officially walking now. He is so confident in his little steps that he even turns around and is walking everywhere with toys in hand. He is still crawling when he wants to get somewhere fast; but I am certain that will change quickly once he gets the running part down! Mark managed to get it on video so we will make sure to get that posted in the near future.

Daycare is still going great and Joshua seems completely comfortable at Jenna's place with her and her gang. This makes things much easier for me with my first day back at work only 2 days away. I must admit, I am not looking forward to it at all and will miss my time with Joshua more than I could ever express.

Tomorrow, he will stay home from daycare for one last morning with his momma (and dadda). We hope to go up for a swim tomorrow morning before his nap to play in the water with our little man and just enjoy our time together. Then, in the afternoon Joshua has his 1 year old check-up at the doctor's. I can't wait to show the gang at the doctor's how well Joshua is getting around these days!
