A few very smart individuals have reminded me that it was not all chocolates and roses when we started dropping off Joshua at Jenna's either. When Mark was dropping him off, he would often cry and cling to him, unless the other kids were doing their little welcome dance circle and enticing him to join them. When our shifts changed and I was the one to drop off, Joshua was not entirely thrilled at the prospect of his momma taking off either. It was not until I decided to integrate the Summer treat rituals that he seemed excited at the idea of morning drop offs. At the time, we were told to just be happy and proud at the fact that he loves his parents so much that he does not want them to leave - that he would rather have us play with him the whole day instead (honestly, like Mark and I would not rather that too!)!We are both reassured that he only cries for a minute or two and then is back to his happy-go-lucky "perfect" (Faria's word, not mine) little boy; he plays well with the others, is great at communicating, sleeps like an angel, and eats like a champ.
Today, on the Friday of Joshua's first week at Faria's daycare, I am hopeful that this too will become easier with every passing day. Do things seem tougher now then they did at Blanche Neige? Maybe... but, then again, Joshua is 8 months older, and 8 months better at communicating than he was then. He also has 8 months more experience at manipulating his parents ;-) Yes - our boy certainly knows how to push his parent's buttons!
Hope you all have a great weekend,
J

Mark is really justifying the wii as a toy for Joshua :) He seems to enjoy it!
