Shiverfest, Elmo Live and Life With Blocks

Another weekend come and gone.

Although the weekend ended on a quiet note with a day at home with the family, Saturday was a plethora of stimuli, excitement and new adventures for our little one. The morning began with a lovely "sleep in" from Joshua who let us sleep until shortly after 6 (which is a SIGNIFICANT improvement from the weekend before... again - many thanks to the baby whisperer) We had plans to meet up with Grandma, Poppa and Tiana for Shiverfest in Manotick while we got an oil change at the dealership. While Mark enjoyed the $3 pancake breakfast, Joshua bonded with his cousin and what looked like all the kids in the place by showing off his mighty Doc-mobile. After filling tummies, we joined Grandma for a lovely horse drawn sleigh ride around the park and then headed back inside to warm up at the local nursery school for some arts and crafts. While Tiana had a LOVELY butterfly painted on her face, Joshua got brave and decided to partake in the face painting with this cute "Thomas" on his cheek. This picture was taken on our way home afterwards... poor little man was awfully pooped and had NO clue what was coming next!
After a nap that was not as long as we would have hoped, We were off to Scotiabank Place for an afternoon of Elmo Live. At the last minute, Mark found out we had an extra ticket since kids 2 and under were free so Grandma joined us for the festivities. Joshua seemed absolutely blown away by the whole thing. For the first 10 or 15 minutes, Joshua could do nothing but point at the big red puppet on the stage repeatedly calling out his name. After a while, he was dancing, clapping and laughing out loud with all the other kids in the Nokia box. A true success of a first concert experience.Needless to say, Joshua was mighty tiered by the time we got home so we ate an early supper and he was in bed, asleep by 6:40pm. The even crazier thing about that - he slept until 6am the next morning!

Today was a much quieter day that included a trip to Toys R Us but mostly surrounded lounging, playing and resting. Joshua seems to be fighting a bit of a gasto bug and was more than happy to snuggle on the couch with his favorite parents (wink) and watch his beloved Cars. I am hoping that it was just the busy Saturday catching up to him and that he will be all better tomorrow! Here is a picture of him getting a closer look at a lovely castle he and his dadda built during the earlier morning.

Hope you all have a great week!
J

I missed seeing the little guy, so great to see the photos! Mitch wasn't impressed with a Thomas tattoo on his hand the other day, don't know if he could've taken the cheek painting :)
